Hilary Duff has officially returned after a seven-year break from music with "Chasing The Sun," which received an aw-shucks cute clip on Tuesday (July 29) in which the 26-year-old daydreams about rollicking on the beach while stuck in a cramped cubicle.
With glasses, a polka dot top and wholly clumsy movements, Duff is presenting her best "New Girl" impression in the video while causing hijinks in her nondescript office setting. Her heart really belongs at the beach -- with a muscly, impossibly handsome dude, of course -- and her sound matches the breezy video, as "Chasing The Sun" shimmers with a light Sheryl Crow vibe.
"Chasing The Sun" previews Duff's fifth studio set -- her first since 2007's "Dignity" -- and debut album on RCA Records, due out this fall. The track was produced by Toby Gad and co-written by Gad, Colbie Caillat and Jason Reeves.
"I took a break from music for quite a while, but it gave me the power to choose my next steps carefully and I'm really proud of the album I've made," says Duff in a press release. "'Chasing The Sun' is a light and fun summer song that I hope helps people to feel a little more carefree."
