The Mahomies may not have fared so well in Billboard's Fan Army Face-Off (they lost in round one), but they've still got reason to rejoice this week. Austin Mahone dropped a brand new song called "Say My Name" yesterday.
Written alongside Robert Villanueva, the new song could be representative of Mahone's forthcoming debut full-length. It opens with stabs of glossy, 80s-sounding guitar and a bass-enhanced, A$AP Rocky-esque voice uttering the title before simmering into a new school R&B track that aims for some steamy romance. If Austin is shooting for the hearts of those scared off by Justin Bieber's sketchy exploits, "Say My Name" is a sensible musical move.
More Austin Mahone:
And more new music is likely on the way-- earlier this morning he shared a photo of himself and Birdman on his official Facebook page with the caption, "Playing new music for @birdman5star just wait til you hear what we got."
Beginning July 25, Mahone will embark on a North American tour alongside Fifth Harmony and Vine superstar Shawn Mendes that runs through mid-September. After that, he'll spend October touring Mexico, Brazil and Puerto Rico.
