"I don't really like being called a corporate sellout by the man that wrote the music for the MTV VMAs."

Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda had some harsh words for the indie synthpop band, CHVRCHES, in an interview with Noisey. The LP rapper linkened them (along with Haim and Vampire Weekend) to "Disney commercial music."

Turns out Shinoda's words didn't exactly take CHVRCHES "one step closer to the edge." In fact, they brushed them off without much fuss during a recent interview with German outlet, joiz.

"I think that everybody likes different kids of music and that's absolutely fine," says vocalist Lauren Mayberry, when questioned about the quote. An accomplished writer herself, Mayberry dug a little deeper into the press cycle motivations of Shinoda's words.

More on CHVRCHES:

"I call bullshit a little bit on that one because it's not a coincidence that his band has a record to sell and he mentioned several bands that people are writing about. It's not an opinion I worry about hugely because it's not my kind of music," she continues.

"It seemed like a bit of a pointless dig, though," adds multi-instrumentalist Iain Cook. "I don't really know what he has to gain from it."

Finally, Mayberry lets out a little one-line zinger: "I don't really like being called a corporate sellout by the man that wrote the music for the MTV VMAs."

Linkin Park are out promoting their new LP "The Hunting Party," which dropped June 13. CHVRCHES are still touring behind last year's debut album, "The Bones of What You Believe."
