Naomi Pilgrim, 'House of My Dreams': Exclusive Video Premiere
Swedish-Barbadian singer Naomi Pilgrim is making moves in 2014. She's prepping her second EP of the year of forward-thinking pop/R&B. The set features the warm, sentimental cut "House of Dreams," and Billboard has the exclusive premiere of the song's music video.
"This is my palace, this is where I live, so take your shoes off and stay," Pilgrim sings. "In my house of dreams, it's all okay." Those lines come to life in the Liza Minou Morberg-directed videom which employs some glitchy, stop-start techniques to capture the singer at one with her environment.
Pilgrim recalls how the clip came together:
"This video shoot was a special experience for me because I got the chance to work with some of my closest people. Through acquaintances, we found a mansion located outside of Stockholm, where the owner invited us for a weekend stay. Thanks to him and his friends, the beautiful environment and my team, the mansion transformed into our own "House Of Dreams". In addition to the video shoot, we had time to enjoy ourselves, we swam in a lake, had good food and wine, good conversations and danced all night."
Pilgrim broke into the industry as a backup singer for artists like Lykke Li and Agnes Carlsson and didn't decide to pursue a solo career as a singer-songwriter until her late twenties. So far, she has this year's impressive three-song self-titled EP to show for it, with the "House of Dreams" EP due mid-July via Best Fit Recordings / Cosmos Music.
The upcoming EP -- limited to 300 vinyl copies -- can be preodered here.
