Brooklyn indie-pop artist Ayer has returned with a one-off single, "Black Diamond," that he worked on with veteran pop producer Brian Kierulf. Check out the music video for "Black Diamond," premiering exclusively on Billboard.com, below:
Ayer (real name: Danny Schmittler) and Kierulf have been working on multiple records together, some of which may appear on Ayer's next project, due out in May. For the "Black Diamond" video, the singer-songwriter worked with Brooklyn video artist Lucas Carey and came out with a dazzling visual product.
"For the video, Lucas Carey and I wanted to unearth some deeper meanings from the song," says Ayer. "We used NASA stock footage, custom GIFs and other beautiful imagery to tell the story. The video begins with a take-off, and proceeds to travel far into the depths of space. Our cast of characters lose and regain their identity throughout the video as they exercise, navigate and socialize their way through the ethers, perhaps in search of a Black Diamond."
Ayer is working on collaborations with The Soundmen and Keljet, and he may release a new EP next month. Meanwhile, his next live shows are being planned for July.
