Katy Perry Plays Elderly Dancer, Spoiled Princess In 'Birthday' Video Teaser: Watch
Want to watch Katy play a depressed clown, a wise-cracking rabbi and an animal trainer? Of course you do.
Katy Perry has described her upcoming music video for new single "Birthday" as "the most insane one I've ever done"… and judging from the two-minute teaser clip released late on Monday (Apr. 21), she wasn't kidding. The video, due to premiere on Thursday, will apparently feature the "World's Worst Birthday Party Entertainers," with Perry playing all of them, "Austin Powers in Goldmember"-style.
The makeup used on Perry for Goldie The Dancer, who isn't shy about showing off "her golden nuggets," is actually pretty incredible, while Yosef Shulem The MC gets the party started with a circumcision joke, because, hey, why not? The most ingenious character Perry concocts might be Princess Mandee, who rattles off her insane Twitter handle before casually unfollowing someone on her phone. Overall, the mockumentary-style teaser has a very Pistachio Disguisey vibe, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
After the super-serious music video for "Unconditionally," Perry got back to her goofy side in the Cleopatra spoof for "Dark Horse," which spent four weeks atop the Hot 100 chart earlier this year. "Birthday" is the fourth single from Perry's "PRISM" album, and debuted at No. 91 on last week's Hot 100 chart.
In other KP news, the singer appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" last night, and laughed off her recent breakup with John Mayer. Watch the clip below:
