Idina Menzel Talks Billboard Cover, 'Amazing Ride' on 'Today': Watch
During an appearance on NBC's "Today" on Thursday morning (Apr. 3), recent Billboard cover star Idina Menzel discussed the enormous success of "Frozen," the theatricality of "Let It Go," John Travolta's Oscar flub and gracing the cover of Billboard last month.
"That's like, my first cover ever in my life!" Menzel exclaimed to Tamron Hall. After years of Broadway stardom, Menzel is finally having her rock star moment -- watch her discuss it below:
While the "Frozen" soundtrack continues its stay atop the Billboard 200 albums chart, Menzel herself has a Top 5 hit on the Hot 100 chart with "Let It Go," which earned an Academy Award last month. "The fact that it just connects with all these young kids makes it even more powerful," said Menzel of the "Frozen" anthem.
Although "Frozen" mania has taken over a large part of Menzel's life, her focus remains on her current Broadway musical "If/Then," which is targeted to a more adult audience. "That's good for a 42-year-old woman to have a demographic of, you know, 5-year-olds," she joked. "'Cause then, when I'm 80, maybe they'll bring their kids to see me. and I'll still have a job."
