"The Giver" is based on Lowry's best-selling 1993 novel set in a futuristic, dystopian society and stars Meryl Streep as Chief Elder, Brenton Thwaites as the Receiver of Memories, and Jeff Bridges, who plays The Giver. Katie Holmes plays Thwaites' character's mom.
"The way things look and the way things are are very different," Bridges' character says to Thwaites in the fast-moving trailer.
In the film, a brunette Swift portrays Rosemary, The Giver's daughter (zoom to :44 in the trailer). Swift's other acting credits include Garry Marshall's "Valentine's Day," voice work on "The Lorax," and guest spots on "New Girl" and "CSI."
