On Tuesday (Mar. 18), U.K. pop-rockers Rixton will release its debut EP, "Me and My Broken Heart," in the U.S. through Scooter Braun's School Boy Records, in partnership with Interscope. One of the standouts from the EP is the track "Hotel Ceiling," and the guys recorded an acoustic performance of the track -- check out the Billboard exclusive video below:
Rixton made its name on YouTube with covers of songs by Taylor Swift, Robin Thicke and Katy Perry, and satirized the mainstream pop world in the video for its original song "Make Out" last October. "Hotel Ceiling," and the rest of the group's "Me and My Broken Heart" EP, is no joke, however: the song was co-written by Ed Sheeran and Benny Blanco, and demonstrates why this collective has distinguished itself from other YouTube covers specialists.
"'Hotel Ceiling' means a lot to us as a band, and we feel like it's a song many people will be able to relate to," says frontman Jake Roche. "Lyrically, it's very heartfelt and we hope to convey that same honesty in the music as well."
Rixton's first U.S. single release for Interscope, "Me and My Broken Heart," has neared the Pop Songs radio airplay chart ahead of the group's EP release. The quartet will be touring U.S. radio stations in support of the project this month.
