Beginning March 8, check Billboard.com for a daily journal of concerts, interviews and other excitement on board the Norwegian Pearl.
Paramore is ready to set sail.
The group is headlining the maiden voyage of Sixthman's Parahoy! Cruise, and Billboard.com will be there every step of the way. Beginning Saturday, March 8, Billboard's Chris Payne will be sharing daily journal entries on Billboard.com, along with shots from assistant photo editor Jatnna Nunez. They'll be giving a behind-the-scenes account of all the onboard goings-on, as the Norwegian Pearl sails from Miami to the Bahamas and back over the weekend.
And there will be plenty of goings on to report on: along with Paramore, Tegan & Sara, New Found Glory, Shiny Toy Guns, mewithoutYou, Bad Rabbits and DJ Ruben Wu (of Ladtryon) will be performing a variety of sets, along with delivering special interactive moments with the guests. How will Tegan & Sara fare against the winning team of a ship-wide ping-pong tournament? How good are New Found Glory at musical chairs? What will the fans wear to 80s night and prom night?
Here's a trailer for the cruise:
The music cruise model isn't new, but crafting one for Paramore's demographic is. Following the repeat success of Rose Tours' Weezer Cruise, there's been a youthful new wave of music cruises aimed at alternative rock and EDM fans, many from the Atlanta-based Cruise company Sixthman, who are presenting Parahoy!.
"What we look for is a band that's got a very loyal following behind it, almost to the point of being a lifestyle," says Ben Ferguson, Sales, PR & Marketing Manager at Sixthman. "Paramore fits that bill in its entirety. They've got a voracious fanbase." Onboard the Norwegian Pearl, that fanbase will get treated to two Paramore concerts, a Q&A with the band, a pick-throwing competition with bassist Jeremy Davis and basketball with guitarist Taylor York.
Billboard will be chatting with multiple artists onboard the ship, so look out for those stories, along with other first-hand accounts during the daily diaries. The ship sails March 7-11, with entries coming on the 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th.
