Listen to the Brooklyn duo's five-song debut before they hit the road with Panic! At The Disco.
Junior Prom, the Brooklyn duo of Mark Solomich and Erik Ratensperger, has created an arresting debut EP on Elektra Records after turning heads last year with the tracks "Sheila Put The Knife Down" and "International." The five-track "Junior Prom" is due out on Tuesday (Feb. 4), but take an early listen to the EP, exclusively at Billboard.com:
Solomich and Ratensperger produced the EP themselves, and recorded part of the release in Solomich's kitchen before handing the project off to Tony Hoffer for mixing. Along with Junior Prom's two previously released tracks, the new songs make last impressions with an electronic buzz wrapped around slick pop hooks; "Big Timer" even has its fair share of handclaps to complement its sunny harmonies.
"It was a real result of us making due with the limited resources we had," says Ratensperger of recording "Junior Prom." "It was amazing when our label told us they wanted to put it out as our first release."
"Fun fact: my 66-year-old landlord sang some background vocals on 'International,'" Solomich adds.
One day after Junior Prom's debut EP is officially released, the duo will join Panic! At The Disco and the Colourist on the road for a two-week stint. Check out the dates below:
