On this week's Hot 100 chart, Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" (featuring Juicy J) slides up one spot to the chart's summit, giving the pop star her ninth No. 1 single on the Hot 100. The latest achievement in a career checkered with ubiquitous hits like "I Kissed A Girl," "Teenage Dream," "Part Of Me" and "Roar," Perry's new No. 1 smash doubles as her least anticipated, according to its creator.
"This No. 1 is the most unexpected one I've ever had," Perry told Billboard exclusively, after the song's No. 1 chart ascent was confirmed. "'Dark Horse' has been a dark horse of a song, since August when the KatyCats voted to release it early on iTunes, before 'PRISM' even came out. I'm so thrilled and grateful to have these moments."
As Katy Perry celebrates another chart-topper, we ask: which of her nine career No. 1 singles is your favorite? Vote now in the poll below to tell us which of the singer's Hot 100 smashes makes you roar the loudest:
Perry's Hot 100 triumphs began with her "One Of The Boys" album in 2008, which spawned "I Kissed A Girl," her first No. 1 single and Billboard's Song of the Summer for that year. But the singer really kicked it into high gear with her sophomore album, "Teenage Dream," which tied the record set by Michael Jackson's "Bad" album by spawning five No. 1 singles -- "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," "Firework," "E.T." and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)."
The singer added another No. 1 to he résumé with "Part Of Me," from the deluxe edition of "Teenage Dream," in 2012, before making her full-length return with "PRISM" last fall. "Roar," the ferocious lead single, made its mark at the top of the Hot 100 chart, and after follow-up single "Unconditionally" became a Top 20 hit, "Dark Horse" galloped to the top spot in its 19th week on the chart.
