"We are overwhelmed by the worldwide response + excitement," Gaga writes of her Kellz collaboration.
Lady Gaga just called an audible: instead of making the still-unreleased "ARTPOP" track "Venus" the album's second single, as previously announced, the pop superstar has taken to Twitter to confirm that the recently released "Do What U Want," featuring R. Kelly, will officially be the follow-up to "Applause."
"Don't worry monsters!" Gaga posted on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon. "We are still scheduled to release #Venus this Monday with a snippet on Friday! AND it will STILL have its own video!
"However," Gaga continued, "we are overwhelmed by the worldwide response + excitement for DO WHAT U WANT feat. R KELLY & are happy to announce it as 2nd Single!"
Produced by Gaga and DJ White Shadow, the sleek, sassy "Do What U Want" was released online on Monday (Oct. 21) after being teased in a commercial for Beats By Dre. The song's artwork features a butt-in-a-thong snapshot that Gaga has turned into her Twitter avatar.
As previously announced, "Venus" will be previewed on Friday (Oct. 25) and released in full next Monday. "ARTPOP," due out Nov. 11, has been preceded by "Applause," which rises one spot to No. 8 on the current Hot 100 chart.
