After Justin Bieber kicked off his 10-week "Music Mondays" series with the break-up jam "Heartbreaker" last Monday (Oct. 7), the pop superstar has offered "All That Matters," another mid-tempo, contemplative love song, as the follow-up.
"All That Matters" adheres to R&B tropes a little less than "Heartbreaker," with crackling percussion and winding acoustic notes accompanying Biebs' croon. However, the second "Music Mondays" release is arguably even more heart-wrenching than the first one: "You make me complete/You're all that matters to me… What's a king bed without a queen?" Bieber intensely belts, with the sound of anguish in his young voice.
"The lyrics of this song are pretty self explanatory - when you fall in love with someone, that someone can make you feel whole," Bieber wrote in the song's iTunes description. "I feel like anyone who has been in love knows what I mean. The song conveys that being in love is one of the greatest feelings on earth. Love is all that matters. But the void you feel when that love goes away is gut-wrenching. I worked so hard on this song in the studio - trying to put that feeling into music was extremely important to me. I'm happy to share it with you."
"Heartbreaker" debuted at No. 77 on the Hot 100 chart in a shortened week last week, and will likely climb the tally this week. Bieber's "Music Mondays" series will lead directly into the release of "Believe 3D," the follow-up to his 2011 movie "Never Say Never," due out this Christmas. Watch the trailer below:
