Feline clip offers five seconds of the hotly anticipated new single.

Katy Perry has been actively teasing her new single "Roar" ahead of its Aug. 12 release with a series of fairly ingenious under-30-second videos. The latest entry, dubbed "From A Meow To A Roar," was released on Wednesday (Aug. 7)… and actually includes a preview of the eagerly anticipated track!

In the video, a white cat finds and feasts upon a toy before emitting an out-of-character roar. When the screen goes black and the expected "#ROAR" pops up, the visual is accompanied by five seconds of the new song, which will include tribal-sounding drums and some spirited "Whoa-oh-oh's" from the pop superstar.

"From A Meow To A Roar" follows "Burning Baby Blue," in which Perry set fire to her iconic blue wig, and "The Third Coming," in which the singer cracked a delicious smile during a funeral. The latest darkly witty teaser continues to hint at a sonic evolution for the "Teenage Dream" star -- the leader of the KatyCats appears to be ready to morph her purr into an edgy roar.

"Roar" is the lead single from "Prism," Perry's third studio album, which is due out on Oct. 22.
