Earlier this week, Mariah Carey announced that her thirteenth studio album would heat up the summer and be released worldwide on July 23. "The New Era Begins.. 7/23," the singer -- who recently scored another hit with the Miguel duet "#Beautiful" -- posted on Twitter on Wednesday (June 5). July 23 is also the date that Selena Gomez will launch her debut solo album "Stars Dance," it was announced on Monday. Two female pop stars will square off on the release date, and the question remains: whose next full-length are you more excited to hear?

Following her stint on the "American Idol" judges panel, Carey's follow-up to 2009's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" will be supported by a performance at NBC's "Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular," as well as a world tour kicking off in the fall. "#Beautiful" jumps three spots to No. 17 on this week's Hot 100.
Meanwhile, Gomez recently unveiled the 11-song track list to "Stars Dance," as well as the new single "Slow Down." "Come & Get It," the album's lead single produced by Stargate, has peaked at No. 6 on the Hot 100 and has become one of the singer's biggest hits to date.
