In the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Billboard cover story, frontwoman Karen O admitted to being none too fond of mosquitoes.
"But everything about this album was done to evoke feeling -- we want people to feel something," she said.
Karen and Yeah Yeah Yeahs fans should indeed feel something -- probably gut-wrenching queasiness -- when they watch the band's latest music video for "Mosquito," a rather literal interpretation of the title track.
In the Shimbe Shim-directed video, a lifelike CGI mosquito lands on a little boy's hand and becomes increasingly mutant with every gulp of blood. In the end, the bug's fate matches the song's lyrics.
The new album was released April 16 and debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.
