It's been a big year for Cage the Elephant, the rock quintet out of Bowling Green, Kentucky. The band on the rise released its third album, "Melophobia", late in 2013 (and hit No. 1 on both the Rock Airplay and Alternative Songs charts) and has since been touring hard, winning over fans and critics alike with their raucous live shows blending balls-out rock with off-the-wall pop psychedelia.

Noting their tour with the heady and danceable English rock outfit Foals, Brad says they've enjoyed "just getting the to play the material live to people."

Looking back to their roots, Matt described their Kentucky music scene growing up as "more or less just friends supporting each other."

"There wasn't any particular sound that dominated the kind of stuff that people were making," he said. We all just supported each other and [played] a lot of house parties. It started out with a lot of house shows."

In September, Cage the Elephant will join the Black Keys on tour. "That's gonna be awesome," said Matt.
