Bonnaroo 2014: Zedd Promises a Few 'Exciting Collaborations' on His Next Album (Video)
Zedd recognizes the differences between playing his own shows and playing a festival.
"It's a different vibe. If you play your own show, you play in front of your own fans and you play in front of fans that know your music," he tells Billboard at Bonnaroo. "It's a little easier, but it's also amazing. I love playing my own shows. Playing festivals, you play in front of your own fans, but also a lot of people who don't know you and it's more challenging because you can't expect everyone to know your album tracks."
According to Zedd, he's "written 80 percent of the songs" for his next album. "Probably half of the songs are just piano and vocals at this point. That's kind of the first part of the song. And then I have to start producing them. That's what takes time because you want to make sure not everything sounds the same."
"The most important thing is the music, and that is written for the most part," he says.
But Zedd won't reveal who he's working with on the songs. "There's going to be a few really, really exciting collaborations that I don't want to spoil. A lot of artists that I've wanted to work with for so long, and now I finally get the chance.
