Fernandez joins Daddy Yankee and Natalia Jimenez as coach.

Mexican singer and actor Pedro Fernandez is the third and last celebrity tapped to as a coach of the third season of singing competition La Voz Kids. Fernandez will join pop diva Natalia Jimenez and urban star Daddy Yankee in the kiddie competition show that's been a ratings boon for Telemundo for the past two years.

As someone who was actually a hugely successful child star, both as a singer and a film/TV actor, Fernandez brings unique perspective to the show. Few Latin acts had the kind of exposure he had as a child, when he was known all throughout Latin America following his film debut in 1979's  La nina de la Mochila Azul (The Girl With the Blue Bag). The ranchera song "La de la mochila azul," performed by Fernandez, became a regional hit.

Most importantly, Fernandez was able to transcend his child star days. He continues to record, perform and act in television. A Latin Grammy winner, Fernandez is signed to Universal Music Latino.

The new season of La Voz Kids, which will begin airing later this spring, will feature Jimenez as the lone returning coach. Last year, she shared the spot with Prince Royce and regional Mexican star Roberto Tapia.

This time around, the show will have a very different look and feel thanks to Yankee, the first coach from the urban world, and Fernández, a ranchera star who boasts a beautiful voice.

Winners of La Voz Kids receive a recording contract with Universal Music. The show is produced by Talpa Media USA Inc., created by John de Mol.
