Mexican Star's Death Spurs No. 1 Chart Return

Following the death of Banda Los Recoditos' Luis Fernando Muñoz Castro on July 25, the group re-enters Regional Mexican Digital Songs at No. 1 with "Mi Ultimo Deseo." The track sold 3,000 downloads in the week ending Aug. 3, according to Nielsen SoundScan, earning a 685 percent increase.

The 25-year old Castro died in a car accident on July 25 in Mexico. "Mi Ultimo Deseo" spends its tenth non-consecutive week at No. 1, and the song also re-enters Hot Latin Songs at No. 18. It also tallied a 105 percent hike in streams (432,000 for the week).

Farruko's Chart Monopoly: Elsewhere, Farruko replaces himself at No. 1 on Latin Rhythm Airplay, as his "Passion Whine," featuring Sean Paul, steps 2-1 (6.7 million audience impressions; up 7 percent according to Nielsen BDS). He bumps J Balvin's "6 AM.," which features Farruko, down to No. 2. It's the fourth consecutive week Farruko has monopolized the top two.  On Hot Latin Songs, the track reaches a new peak, stepping 13-12. 

Calle 13's Video Is Big on Twitter: The always visually-engaging urban duo Calle 13 opens at No. 9 on Billboard Twitter Top Tracks, which ranks the top shared songs on Twitter, following the release of a music video for "Ojos Color Sol" featuring Silvio Rodriguez. The clip, which stars actor Gael Garcia Bernal, debuted on July 29 and quickly soared to the top of the Billboard Twitter Trending 140 chart.

Live in the Top 10: On Top Latin Albums, La Arrolladora Banda Limon de Rene Camacho acquires its seventh top 10 as latest live set, En Vivo Desde El Coloso De Reforma, enters at No. 6 with 1,000 copies sold in its first week.  The set's current single — a bonus studio track on the album — "Me Dejaste Acostumbrado" jumps 42-34 on Hot Latin Songs. It rose 10 percent in radio audience at the format in the week ending Aug. 5, according to Nielsen BDS. The track concurrently climbs 14-8 on Regional Mexican Airplay, granting the group its 17th top 10.

Chayanne's 29th Top 10 Hit on Hot Latin Songs: Chayanne hops 11-9 on Hot Latin Songs with latest single "Humanos Amarte," marking his 29th top 10 on the chart and first since "Enamore De Ti" peaked at No. 6 in 2010.  The climb ties the singer with Cristian Castro for third-most top 10s on the chart.  "Humanos" rises four percent at radio (to 9.4 million audience impressions), in its 15th week on the chart.  The track is the first single off of Chayanne's upcoming studio album En Todo Estaré, due August 25. 

Arjona's Top Debut: Ricardo Arjona claims the highest bow this week on Hot Latin Songs as "Lo Poco Que Tengo" arrives at No. 42. The folk singer-songwriter has a 21-year history on the chart, reaching No. 6 with his first charting track "Mujeres" in 1993. "Lo Poco" is the second single off of his latest set Viaje which opened at No. 1 on Top Latin Albums (8,000 copies) in May, marking his fifth chart-topper.
