Carlos Vives blasts onto the Latin Airplay chart at No. 1 with "El Mar de Sus Ojos" (featuring ChoQuibTown). The debut marks the eighth chart-topper for the Colombian singer, and his second to start at No. 1, following "Volvi A Nacer," which opened at the top in October 2012. Only 16 songs in the 20-year history of the airplay chart have reached the No. 1 spot in their opening week. The new track, which launches on Hot Latin Songs at No. 11 (with two-thirds of its points from airplay), logged 11.8 million audience detections in its opening week, according to Nielsen BDS. Vives is a finalist in two categories at the 2014 Billboard Latin Music Awards (to be broadcast live on Telemundo on April 24), including Latin Pop Album of the Year for Corazon Profundo.
Wisin sprints 12-2 on Hot Latin Songs with "Adrenalina" (featuring Jennifer Lopez and Ricky Martin). The release of the song's music video on March 3 served as a major driver in its chart dash. The song logged 845,000 U.S. streams in the week ending March 9, with 91% attributed to VEVO on YouTube views. "Adrenalina" concurrently jumps 6-1 on Latin Digital Songs with a 151% leap to 12,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
On Top Latin Albums, Alexis & Fido debut at No. 5 with La Esencia. The Puerto Rican reggaeton duo scores its fourth top 10 with the set, which moved 1,000 units in its first week. The album bows at No. 2 on Latin Rhythm Albums, while single "Alocate" lifts 48-42 on Hot Latin Songs. The pair is up for four Billboard Latin Music Awards, including Latin Rhythm Songs Artist of the Year, Duo or Group.
