Shakira's baby boy has arrived "in excellent health," a rep for the singer tells Billboard.
Shakira's baby boy has arrived.
Milan Piqué Mebarak, the son of the singer and her soccer star boyfriend, Gerard Piqué, was born on Tuesday at 9:36 p.m. in Barcelona, Spain. According to a Shakira rep, the singer and her dark-haired baby are "in excellent health," with Milan weighing in at 6 lbs., 6 oz. On her child's name, the singer noted it meant "loved, full of grace, loving," in Slavic and "unification" in Sanksrit.
While it'll be a while before he's ready to hit the field, it sounds like his parents have high hopes for his athletic career.
"Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth," the rep said in a statement to Billboard.
But what about a singing career in his mother's footsteps? Tweeted Manchester City striker Sergio "Kun" Aguero, "Welcome Milan Piqué Mebarak and congratulations to Shakira and Gerard Pique. What would you prefer as a present for the baby, a microphone or some (soccer) boots?"
Well-wishers can send their regards through a charity online baby shower that Shakira has organized with UNICEF to benefit underprivileged children.
Shakira has been dating the 25-year old FC Barcelona center-back for the past two years.
