BIGBANG Preview New Singles 'Loser' & 'Bae Bae' at Seoul Concert, Preparing 'Made' Album
After nearly three years away from the K-pop scene -- a lifetime in South Korea's quickly moving music business -- BIGBANG is back in a big way with the boy band's comeback looking more than five times as nice.
According to the quintet's Korean record label YG Entertainment, the K-pop phenoms will drop two new singles next month. That kickstarts a plan to release at least one new song on the first of every month ahead of dropping new album Made in September. The band previewed their new tracks, officially out on May 1, at the two Seoul dates of their 2015 World Tour Made.
The first, "Loser," appeals to BIGBANG's melancholy R&B and hip-hop tendencies. Like 2012 single "Blue," the new track sounds like it comes with a slower tempo, but a head-banging beat, as the guys lament about being "just a loser." Its lyrics were written by members G-Dragon and T.O.P along with longtime producer Teddy (who worked on some of BIGBANG's past singles plus songs by 2NE1 and WINNER). The band also revealed that the track was composed and arranged by Teddy with while member Taeyang also snagged co-composer credits.
"Loser" and its accompanying music video were revealed at the concert and while recordings have mostly been scrubbed from the Internet, for now you can watch a fan recording (that mostly only focuses on the shirtless Taeyang) below:
The "Loser" video was directed by Seo Hyun-Seung who helmed past BIGBANG videos including "I'm the Best" and "Fantastic Baby" the latter being the most-watched, non-PSY K-pop video ever on YouTube. Peep a preview of the visual here:
The other single "Bae Bae" is a trendy trap track with the guys offering animated vocal and rap lines over the production that mixes trappy snares and melodic piano.
"Bae Bae" was written and composed by G-Dragon, T.O.P and Teddy with the K-pop producer handling the arrangement. Listen to a fan recording below:
The two Seoul dates begin BIGBANG's Made world tour. So far, the tour is only confirmed to hit Asia, but YG has hinted the band will return to America to follow their four dates in the U.S. in 2012. (It should be noted that G-Dragon's 2013 "world tour" only hit Asia.) Watch the cinematic trailer -- that features contributions from those who worked on Fast & Furious -- right here:
