The 12-member boy band react to topping the charts in the U.S. and South Korea backstage at KCON 2013.
With less than a year and a half since their spring 2012 debut, 12-member K-pop boy band EXO has earned accolades most acts only find several years into their careers.
When Billboard talked with the boys at KCON 2013, their Southern hip-hop leaning single "Growl" was smashing the K-Pop Hot 100. The track peaked at No. 3 earlier this month and sits at No. 6 this week with more than a month in the Top 10. Its accompanying LP, "The 1st Album 'XOXO'," debuted at No. 1 on the World Albums chart along with a placement on the Heatseekers Albums chart -- meaning, a Billboard 200 entry wasn't far off. Plus, in its native South Korea, EXO has nabbed several music chart program wins; an accomplishment that typically comes after years of aggregating a strong fanbase.
Outfitted like the popular kids at a fancy prep school, EXO talked to Billboard about its accomplishments so far and gave a little more insight into how the group works. Check out the members (speaking in English and Korean) in Billboard's exclusive video interview.
