In this week's K-Pop Hot 100, Gummy earns a second week at No. 1 with her ballad "Snow Flower" for the Korean drama, "The Winter, The Wind Blows." The powerful ballad continues its reign as the TV program shows high ratings. Gummy has given few live performances of the song, appearing of the music program, "Inkigayo" on Korean channel SBS (the same channel the drama is shown) for some emotionally stirring renditions. Popular boy band 2AM returned after almost a year away from Korea with their "One Spring Day" album. Fans were clearly excited for the long-awaited return with the group landing six out of eight new tracks on this week's chart. The title track zooms up the chart jumping 23 spots to No. 3 this week. "One Spring Day" is a quirky, emotional ballad that showcases the quartet's impressive vocal skills. The album is the latest release from JYP Entertainment who also handles Wonder Girls and miss A. Fellow male act SHINee also peaked at No. 3, will 2AM be able to rise above this? Next will tell if 2AM can break through, but this week their chart dominance is as follows:
No. 3 "One Spring Day"
No. 38 "Reading You"
No. 63 "Consulation"
No. 67 "Back Then"
No. 76 "Forgetting You"
No. 97 "Sunshine"
16-year-old rookie Lee Hi returns to the charts with her new single "It's Over" landing this week's Hot Shot Debut. The jazzy tune that showcased promising things coming from the YG Entertainment (PSY, 2NE1, Gummy) star begins its chart run at No. 4. Those following the chart last year will remember that Lee Hi debuted at No. 1 with her debut solo track "1,2,3,4." While a No. 4 start is nothing to be upset about, it should be noted Lee Hi has not begun proper music program promotions and has only performed the song once on TV. Most likely, once she releases her other single "Rose" along with the second half of her album (the release schedule is outlined here) Lee Hi could very well find herself with another chart topper. Elsewhere on the Davichi is having a successful comeback with their "Turtle" single jumping to the No. 2 slot. The female duo earned one of the K-Pop Hot 100's earliest No. 1s with their three-week chart topper, "Don't Say Goodbye," in fall of 2011. Additionally, The One's K-drama ballad falls two spots to No. 5 this week while SISTAR19's "Gone Not Around Any Longer" falls four landing at No. 6. South Korean favorites, the musical duo Akdong Musician, make a splash too by debuting at No. 8 this week with "Crescendo."
In its third week on the chart TEEN TOP's "Miss Right" rises three spots to a new peak chart position for the band at No. 7. As stated before, their "No. 1" album showed great promise from the boys and this new chart position seems to confirm this.
