Kanye West Hospitalized
A source tells Billboard the hip-hop superstar has been suffering from exhaustion and sleep deprivation.
Kanye West was hospitalized on Monday (Nov. 21) and put under observation at a Los Angeles-area hospital.
NBC News reports Los Angeles police responded to a medical welfare call around 1:20 p.m. local time. There was no criminal activity and the decision to hospitalize West was considered for his own health and safety.
A source tells Billboard that West has been suffering from exhaustion and sleep deprivation and went to the hospital today of his own will and under the consultation of his physician.
The Associated Press reported, "Without confirming West's identity, Los Angeles police told the Associated Press the patient was placed on a psychiatric hold."
The news follows a bizarre weekend for the hip-hop superstar, including rants endorsing President-elect Donald Trump, calling out Beyonce and Jay Z, cutting a concert short and canceling the remainder of his Saint Pablo Tour.
Following the news, West's wife Kim Kardashian skipped her scheduled appearance at the Angel Ball in New York City on Monday night, which would have been her first public appearance since she was robbed at gunpoint in a Paris hotel. Kardashian’s sisters, Khloe and Kourtney, and her mom Kris Jenner attended the black-tie fundraiser. When asked how the couple was doing, Jenner simply smiled and said, "They're good," according to the AP.
