Dej Loaf performs at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on July 3, 2016 in New Orleans.

This past September, Dej Loaf released arguably her most revealing track, "Beef & Broccoli." On the record, the Detroit native tackles myriad issues stemming from broken friendships, depression, and even the heartaches of fame.

The "Try Me" rapper recently took a trip over to South Africa, and was enthralled by the overwhelming kindness she received from the people. According to Dej, dreamy blue skies and friendly handshakes were certainly enough to stymie any negative triggers affecting her life. Now, she's released a video blog of her experience.

"I had the most amazing time in South Africa. I have never seen a sky and an ocean so blue, or mountains so majestic," Dej tells Billboard over e-mail. "Not knowing what to expect from a country 24 hours away, I walked in with an open mind. The things that struck me immediately were the colors of the homes, the clothes and the people. The people were also so warm and receptive. The music and food was vibrant and the children exuded a sense of independence and freedom. They were so inquisitive. I can't wait to visit again."
