DJ Mustard Releases 'Cold Summer' Album Feat. YG, Nicki Minaj, John Legend, Rick Ross & More
DJ Mustard has corralled hip-hop and R&B A-listers for his sophomore album Cold Summer (Roc Nation), the follow-up to his star-studded 2014 debut 10 Summers.
After releasing the Nicki Minaj and Jeremih-assisted jam "Don't Hurt Me," Mustard and his popular tagline -- "Mustard on the beat, ho" -- sprinkle the 13-track set. Cold Summer opens with the West Coast-flavored banger "Been a Long Time" featuring frequent collaborators and fellow California reps YG and Ty Dolla $ign (the three are set to collaborate on Mustard and YG's forthcoming joint 'tape 400 Summers).
Mustard keeps the headphone party bumping with club-friendly joints alongside Nipsey Hussle ("Ridin' Around"), Migos' Quavo ("Want Her"), Young Thug ("Party"), Meek Mill (the DMX-referencing "What These B-tches Want"). Perhaps the most surprising features come from R&B savants John Legend and James Fauntleroy who appear on the final track, the smooth farewell to summer called "Another Summer," which also co-stars Rick Ross. His 10 Summers imprint signee Ella Mai also appears on "10,000 Hours."
“This past year I've grown a lot, both as a producer and a DJ. You can hear it in my music," says Mustard in a statement. "Touring oversees with Rihanna and seeing the fans I have all over the world inspired by me – it was motivation to release this album and not let them down."
