Until now, Twitter had been West’s preferred method of digitally communicating with the world. In March, he toyed with the idea of joining Instagram, tweeting that he’d only join under one condition: “No one can ask me or try to tell me what to Instagram. It’s my art.”

West had more than 300,000 Instagram followers as of press time Saturday morning. So far, he hasn't followed anyone.
