Future Releases New Album 'EVOL' on Apple Music
Future heard the streets callin', and now he's back with his second full-length project in 2016, EVOL, which he premiered on DJ Khaled's brand new We The Best Beats 1 radio show and released exclusively on Apple Music on Friday night (Feb. 5).
The 10-song project -- lead single "Fly Shit Only" is technically included as a bonus track -- follows his latest mixtape Purple Reign, which came out as a surprise in January, and is his seventh release in the past 15 months, a blistering pace that includes two No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, DS2 last June and the collaborative project with Drake What a Time to Be Alive last August. EVOL, which Future helpfully pointed out on Twitter is the word "love" backward, features The Weeknd on "Low Life," the only additional artist on the project.
While announcing the album on Twitter, Future also shouted out Apple Music for a "new deal," though it's currently unclear what that deal will entail. The album is listed on iTunes as coming out via Epic and sources say there are currently no plans for a physical version of the album, placing it in the same vague sort-of-mixtape/sort-of-album territory as WATTBA and Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late which came out last February. Production credits were unavailable as of press time, but expect his frequent collaborators DJ Esco, Metro Boomin and Southside to be involved in some capacity.
