Chris Brown Australia, New Zealand Tour Canceled

Chris Brown's December tour in Australia and New Zealand has been canceled. 

A statement from Brown's Australian One Hell of a Night tour promoter, issued Tuesday, confirmed Australian shows in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane on Dec. 9-16 will not take place.

In September, the Australian government warned it had plans to formally deny Brown's visa because of his criminal conviction for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. 

"Mr Brown and the promoters both remain positive that the tour will take place in the near future," the promoter's statement read. "Mr Brown wishes to express his deepest gratitude to the fans for their support and looks forward to a successful tour in the near future."

Brown was also scheduled to perform Auckland, New Zealand, on Dec. 18.
