Fehrplay's doing just fine outside the Pryda Friends fold.

Since electing not to pursue a management deal with Eric Prydz's label last year, the Norwegian progressive house phenom has delivered a series of finely-crafted original releases on Ultra, mau5trap and now Zerothree.

His forthcoming EP's title track is a dark, progressive gem that builds from its percussive start into a suave, bass-powered groove, setting the stage for unearthly synth plucks -- drenched in reverb and delay -- to escalate the track's energy to emphatic heights.

Listen to the full premiere of Fehrplay's "Rattata" exclusively on Billboard: Jonas von der Fehr has made no secret of his affinity for deeper cuts and techno, channeling his varied stylistic influences through a slick, progressive prism.

"I wanted to go with a more deeper groove like 'Nightride' and 'Monte' to complement that side of my music," he says. "Sometimes you just feel like making something dark and groovy. 'Rattata" has a slow progressive build, but goes out with a bang."

Fehrplay's Rattata EP will be available on Feb. 2 through Zerothree Music.
