The Chainsmokers Want to Be Like 'Kanye' on '#Selfie' Follow-Up
The Chainsmokers' tongue-in-cheek ode to gleeful narcissism, "#Selfie," was one of 2014's inescapable breakout dance hits, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
Now the New York City duo is back with "Kanye," an anthemic EDM ode to another form of narcissism, Kanye West.
The track deceptively opens with some thoughtful piano chords before bursting into a jubilant progressive anthem, with vocalist Siren handling the fist-pumping chorus, "I want to be like Kanye / I'll be the king of me always."
Sure, it's funny, but it's also an unexpectedly inspirational ode to following your own path and living life on your own terms.
Listen to it below -- it looks like there's life after "#Selfie" for these guys.
