New York-based DJ and electronic music producer Jeffrey Tonnesen has died unexpected at the age of 35.
Tonnesen was a familiar face behind the decks at New York’s top-end nightclubs, and he was equally at home playing for the catwalks; his blue-chip fashion clients included Prada, Tiffanys and Giorgio Armani. Tonnesen played dates up and down the country, and spun tunes in London and Hong Kong. During the course of 2014, Tonnesen booked residencies with the likes of Marquee N.Y., Lavo N.Y., Studio Paris in Chicago, and Mur.Mur at The Borgata in Atlantic City.
He passed away last weekend, according to multiple reports, though the cause of death has yet to be revealed.
As a recording artist, Tonnesen cut remixes for Icona Pop, Nina Sky, Dev and Topher Jones and had official releases on Ultra and Big Beat Records. Earlier this year, Tonnesen released Star Burst featuring Cobra Starship.
A service in honor and memory of Tonnesen will be held Friday (Aug. 1) at Senko Funeral Home in Williamsburg, according to a post on his Facebook page.
