Fool's Gold will release a 4-song 'Smokin' & Drinkin' remix EP digitally on July 22. It will be available on 12" picture disc later this year.
Detroit hip-hop and Berlin electro may seem like an odd couple, but Danny Brown and Boys Noize are proving they fit together perfectly.
No stranger to A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs' Fool's Gold label imprint, the German DJ/producer recently lent his percussive touch to Danny Brown's single "Smokin' & Drinkin'," buoying the original’s repeated refrain with snare-driven breakbeats and minimal electro pulses.
"Smokin' & Drinkin'" made its on-air debut earlier today (July 11) on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show. Listen to its editorial premiere exclusively on Billboard's CODE and The Juice:
While "Smokin' & Drinkin'" first appeared on Brown's "Old" album, the anthem has emerged as a fan favorite and earned separate single release. The rapper will perform the single while opening for Eminem at London’s Wembley Stadium this weekend, closing out a European summer tour that included festival sets at Glastonbury, Field Day and Parklife.
Boys Noize's mix is one of the four mixes featured on Fool's Gold's "Smokin' & Drinkin'" remix EP. In addition to Boys Noize, the remix package will feature cuts by Jack Beats, TroyBoi and DJ Sliink.
The "Smokin' & Drinkin'" remix EP will be available digitally on July 22nd. It will be available in 12" picture disc later this year.
