After conquering the UK singles chart, “Gecko (Overdrive)” now gets the festival treatment courtesy of Australia’s Kaz James.
The soulful crossover hit by Oliver Heldens & Becky Hill became the top-selling single in the UK last month and has been a club staple this summer. James adds growling electro layers and complementary synth flourishes to the original’s trademark percussive bass progression, as well as snare-driven builds clearly made for the main stage.
“It’s good that he retains the original, but he gives it an awesome electro twist,” says Heldens.

The remix is the latest development in what has been a strong year for James. The Melbourne artist has been touring as David Guetta’s official support DJ, and he released collaborative track “Blast Off” with the French superstar last month.
James’ remix of “Overdrive” will be available through Pete Tong’s FFRR Records via Warner Brothers Records on July 14th.
