The six dance/electronic albums to have sold over 100,000 units thus far this year mark an increase over the two that had crossed the threshold at this point last year. To this point in 2013, Daft Punk led with the same album, "Random Access Memories," at 614,000 units. It was joined only by "Amok" from Atoms For Peace as the only albums to have sold over 100,000.

Overall, dance/electronic album sales stand at 3.6 million this year, down by 20 percent from 2013 (4.56 million). On the songs side, where most sales of dance/electronic music occur, we see a slightly steeper decline but dramatically higher volume. Dance/electronic digital download sales stand at 34.82 million in 2014, down 24 percent compared to the 45.97 million tracks sold at this point last year.

Anatomy Of A Hit: 'Turn Down For What'

DJ Snake & Lil Jon's "Turn Down For What" is the top-selling dance/electronic song of 2014 by a wide margin, at 2.6 million sold. Following are two other songs to break the one million mark, Avicii's "Hey Brother" (1.4 million) and Calvin Harris' "Summer" (1 million). Additionally, two more songs are almost at the million and will both make it in the next week: Martin Garrix's "Animals" (999,000) and Disclosure's "Latch" (990,000). Last year at this time eight songs had sold over one million units.
