CODE caught up with Yogi last week to discuss the outfit’s new production deal with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment, as well as provide a glimpse into the music they’re currently listening to. Here’s the hybrid hip-hop-dance playlist they delivered.
Hit Boy ft. Nipsey Hussie, "Alert"
Hit-Boy opens Yogi’s playlist with an immediate homage to new boss Dr. Dre. You haven’t felt this since “The Chronic.”
Yogi says: “Hit Boy killing it with the solo shit.”
This catchy single by the Los Angeles-based outfit made the cut on the strength of its anthemic chorus and lush production.
Yogi says: "Met Jordy in LA last year, he's crazy and writes dope songs."
Schoolboy Q, "Hell of a Night"
Yogi recently lent their remix touch to this bumping Schoolboy Q original, which features stripped-down atmospheric production by DJ Dahi.
Yogi says: "Just remixed this, be out soon. Some crazy shit for the clubs."
Skrillex ft. Diplo, G-Dragon & CL, "Dirty Vibe"
As a shout-out to their OWSLA boss, Yogi included this frenetic trap-inspired cut off Skrillex’s debut album “Recess.”
Yogi says: "First heard Skrill' play this in Miami. The crowd lost their shit!"
Major Lazer ft. Pharrell, "Aerosol Can"
Yogi’s playlist ends on a strong note with Major Lazer’s high-profile collaboration with man-of-the-moment Pharrell Williams.
Yogi says: “This collaboration was always gonna be dope."
