Steve Aoki today (April 22) announced that the first half of his forthcoming double record “Neon Future I” will be released August 12 on Dim Mak/Ultra Music. Its companion half “Neon Future II" is scheduled to hit stores early next year.
Boasting collaborations with the likes of Fall Out Boy, Empire of the Sun, will.i.am, Flux Pavilion, Bonnie McKee and Machine Gun Kelly, the follow-up to 2012’s “Wonderland” was preceded by its first single “Rage the Night Away” featuring Wacka Flocka Flame.
“When I think of the dance world, I think of how it’s a colorful world. That, along with my fascination with futurism defined the concept of my new album, Neon Future,” Aoki said in a statement. “I see the future in a more of a utopian sense, built through technology, music and color. These concepts became the driving force for the creation of my first double album.”
Aoki also announced his first headline show at Madison Square Garden on August 16 to commemorate the release. Tickets are set to go on sale May 9 at 12:00 pm ET at his website.
