Steve Angello and his Size artists stopped by during their Ultra trek for a brief Miami interview with Billboard’s Zel McCarthy at the Red Bull Guest House, sharing a bit of the guidance he provides to the crew. “It’s their music,” Steve says of how he doesn’t control the creative direction of his acts. “[They] have to form their lives.”
Producer Max Vangeli, sitting to Steve’s right, noted that during one conversation with the boss—a third of the now defunct Swedish House Mafia, he was told to simply satisfy his fans, who actually buy the music. Not his boss.
“I buy one record once in a while,” Steve followed up jokingly.
“The way I make records,” said Max, “I want to make sure I can play them at my shows. If I can play them and radio loves them, that’s the perfect balance.”
Expect a five-cut EP soon from the Size guys. Watch the video above for Vangeli’s heartwarming answer to what his favorite thing about Miami is and other gems. And be sure to stay tuned to CODE for more Ultra news and interviews.
