CODE First Play: Colette, 'Physically,' Late Night Alumni Remix
There’s a reason why Late Night Alumni’s remix of Colette’s “Physically” sounds like the house music equivalent of a group of friends hanging out.
“I first collaborated with Kaskade in 2004 on his track ‘I Like The Way’ and have been a fan of his group with Finn Bjarnson, Late Night Alumni, for some time,” Colette tells Billboard. “I was beyond excited when I found out that LNA was going to remix this song.”
Both Kaskade and Colette grew up -- musically and otherwise -- in Chicago before heading West, Kaskade to San Francisco and Colette to Los Angeles. Signed to deep house label Om Records, both honed their craft as producers in the early and mid ‘00s, ultimately defining the West Coast house sound.
While both artists have evolved in the decade since they first worked together, the house roots of Kaskade’s Late Night Alumni meet Colette’s emotive electronica in a way that is at once comforting and fresh on this remix.
“Physically,” the second official single from Colette’s album, “When The Music’s Loud,” drops March 18 through Candy Talk Records, exclusively on Beatport, featuring this and other remixes by Cranky Owls, Local Options and Pablo Martinez.
