The all-white party hits four cities with Fedde LeGrand, Sébastien Léger, Nic Fanciulli and more.
Get out your white pants, things just got real. Sensation, the Dutch dance music festival touring the U.S. for the first time has announced the lineup for its four city American excursion this October, including Fedde LeGrand, Nic Fanciulli, Sébastien Léger, Michael Woods and others, listed below. The tour, whose “Oceans of White” theme requires that all attendees (as well as artists) dress head-to-toe in white, stopped in Toronto in June after making its North American debut at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center last October. Sensation returns to Barclays again as part of this tour while also visiting Miami, Las Vegas, and the San Francisco Bay Area for the first time.
“Last year was Sensation’s first dip into the U.S.,” tour headliner Fedde LeGrand told Billboard, “But this year we will be going full force. The experience will be unlike any people are expecting.”
For LeGrand, who has played Sensation events numerous times, the festival is like a second home to him, so he’s excited about being a part of the first American tour. “It's not just a festival or even an amazing show. It's a full-blown experience,” he explains. “Everything is top-notch. From the venue and decoration, to the sound, to the entertainment. It's somewhere between a festival and a Cirque du Soleil show! On top of that, the fact that everyone dresses in white is the icing on the cake. It unifies everyone and, from my perspective, makes the experience a real magical one.”
While the theme of Sensation can vary from year to year, the all-white “Oceans show has become its most iconic, and not just because of the dress code. The oceanic theme includes LED jellyfish suspended above the audience, a cast of aerial artists, 200 pyrotechnical effects and 22 water fountains, all timed and synced with the music. “It actually is my favorite show by far,” adds LeGrand. “You literally get submerged into another world. I don't want to spoil the surprise but the show is absolutely mind blowing.”
According to Sensation USA’s musical director, Erick van Eerdhuizen, the experience is designed to be a musical progression that evolves throughout the night. “We want fans to feel as though they are dancing on the first step of a ladder and continuing all the way to the top of that ladder throughout the event,” says van Eerdhuizen.
The tour marks the biggest American expansion of the Sensation brand since its owners ID&T were acquired by SFX Entertainment earlier this year. Each of the four markets on the tour were chosen for what the promoters are referring to as their “key role they play in shaping the country’s music and nightlife trends.”
“I think the timing is absolutely perfect,” LeGrand says of the U.S. tour. “The concept is really next-level and I think the time is exactly right to show America. And yes, I think they are definitely ready for it!”
