The DJ outfit presents a softer side on their new single as they prepare for a a multi-genre concept tour this fall.
Canadian DJ duo Zeds Dead will hit the road this fall on a concept tour of sorts throughout North America, entitled “Altered States.” The 35-date tour will feature support from Paper Diamond, Green Lantern, and Branchez with other artists rotating in throughout, offering a variety of genres over the course of a single show.
The tour’s name is a play on words, according to Zeds Dead, referring to “how music has the power to change the way you feel and alter your perceptions” as well as the “states” of the United States that they’ll be canvassing (in addition to the provinces of Canada). A mainstay on the festival circuit, this bus tour will feature a grand scale production unlike what the group has done on their own before.
Zeds Dead’s new track, “By Your Side,” premiering here as part of the Altered States tour EP, is a complete 180 from the harder and more aggressive sound of other recent singles. With its soft-padded drops and haunting piano, overlaid with a dreamy vocal, this is the closest thing to a lullaby you’ll hear in bass music.
“This song is a throwback to our hip hop sampling roots,” the group explains. “We tried to complement the melancholy vibe of the vocal by continuing down a dark road of rolling sub bass riffs.”
Tickets for Altered States go on sale on June 10 with a fan presale on June 5. Tour dates listed below; complete tour information can be found on the dedicated site, AlteredSt8s.com.
