Taking a break from a series of releases for Steve Angello's Size Records, Miami native Henrix premieres his remix of Capital Cities' "Safe & Sound," exclusively on CODE. As a producer accustomed to making hard-driving anthems, Henrix was careful to make strategic use of the original record's more emotional core on this remix.
"It's an amazing vocal," Henrix says of the original "Safe & Sound." "I normally like to do big, banging club tracks, but I had to step out of the box with this one and make something with more emotion--something I could close out my sets with."
That emotion is intensified on the chorus, replete with a mega-synth countermelody that supports, rather than overpowers Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian's vocals. If there is a new Miami sound, this is it: simple, accessible melody paired with warm, soft drops, and outdoor, fist-pump-friendly rhythm. And Henrix is the one defining it.
Henrix plays a sold out show at the opening of Governors Island Beach Club in New York this weekend with Hardwell, Dyro, Audien, and Alex English. Capital Cities plays at Sasquatch Music Festival in George, WA this weekend.
