Nick Jonas' "Close" raced to No. 1 on the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart upon its March 25 arrival, just one day after the pop singer-songwriter announced the track and its parent album.

The Trending 140 chart measures the acceleration of conversation around artists and their music, while the Emerging Artists chart measures the volume of tweets around new artists and their songs.

"Close," which features Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Lo, was Twitter's most-discussed song for nine nonconsecutive hours March 24-25. The stretch was fueled by the dual rollout of the cut's commercial release and its official music video. The song marks Jonas' first trip to the Trending 140 summit since "Area Code" dialed in at No. 1 on Nov. 20.

Jonas announced his new single on Twitter on March 24, a day ahead of its release, in a series of tweets uncovering details about his forthcoming third solo album. Among them, he revealed the set's title, Last Year Was Complicated, and shared its entire 12-song track list. The album, due June 10, will also feature collaborations with Big Sean ("Good Girls") and Ty Dolla $ign ("Bacon").
