Taylor Swift's '1989' Aiming for Fifth Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200

Taylor Swift's 1989 album is heading for a fifth non-consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

As the recently revamped Billboard 200 reflects overall consumption of albums (including track equivalent album sales [TEA] and streaming equivalent albums [SEA]), one can't look only to pure album sales to determine the chart's final ranking. That said, Swift seems poised for a fifth frame atop the list.

Industry forecasters suggest the diva's latest effort will sell perhaps 225,000 copies in the week ending Dec. 7. The next closest album, in terms of pure album sales, looks to be Pentatonix's seasonal effort That's Christmas to Me, with around 175,000.

Though Swift's album has very little streaming data helping its chart placement, its tracks are selling very well, which will help its chart fortunes. Pentatonix's album, on the other hand, is widely available on streaming services, which could help make up some of the difference between it and 1989 on the refreshed Billboard 200 chart.

The top 10 of the new Billboard 200 chart will be revealed on Wednesday, Dec. 10.

After Swift and Pentatonix, look for veteran rockers AC/DC to roll in to the top 10 with the chart's highest debut. Their new album, Rock or Bust, is on track to sell 135,000 copies. (Again, like with Swift and Pentatonix's efforts, AC/DC's overall album equivalent unit figure is still up in the air.)

Other albums looking to make high debuts include Mary J. Blige's The London Sessions and Walk the Moon's Talking Is Hard.
