'Shady XV' Compilation Starts at No. 1 on Rap Albums
New albums from the Shady Records crew, Rick Ross, and Iggy Azalea debut. Meanwhile, Glade freshens the chart with a hit by Kevin Ross.
The double album honors the 15th anniversary of the label and includes tracks by Obie Trice, 50 Cent, Yelawolf and D12, among others. Its new "Guts Over Fear," by Eminem featuring Sia, re-enters Hot Rap Songs at No. 16, aided by a music video released on Nov. 24. The song collected 3.4 million domestic streams last week, with 79 percent of its clicks from Vevo on YouTube.
Elsewhere on Rap Albums, Rick Ross opens at No. 2 with Hood Billionaire (74,000). It's the eighth top 10 entrance for the rapper and first since Mastermind debuted at No. 1 in past March (179,000); it spent two weeks at No. 1. On the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, his new album's "If They Knew," featuring K. Michelle, reaches a new peak, climbing 35-33.
Making his Hot R&B Songs debut, singer Kevin Ross arrives at No. 22 with his holiday-themed ballad "This Is My Wish." The song is currently part of a seasonal Glade campaign, with Ross appearing in the company's national TV commercial. Glade is gifting "Wish" as a free download on its website; in spite of the gratis offering, sales grow by 13 percent to 11,000 downloads, enough to enter at No. 5 on Holiday Digital Songs (which counts only paid downloads). It's the first charted title for Ross, who released his debut EP Dialogue In the Grey in September.
Meanwhile, arriving at No. 5 on Rap Albums, Iggy Azalea returns with Reclassified. With sales of 14,000 in its opening week, it simultaneously enters Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums at No. 6. The album's single "Beg for It," featuring MØ, steps 7-6 on Hot Rap Songs, thanks in part to 1.5 million weekly streams.
