What Will Be Billboard's Song Of The Summer?
With one week left in the Songs of the Summer tracking period, 'Fancy' remains the chart's only No. 1 so far. Is it a lock to be this year's winner?
Will Iggy Azalea's "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX, take the title of Billboard's top summer smash?
With one week remaining in the Songs of the Summer chart's tracking period, the single is the only song to have led the seasonal list since it made its annual return. The 10-position running tally tracks the biggest titles based on cumulative performance on the Billboard Hot 100 from Memorial Day through Labor Day, a 14-week span.
The top song of the summer will be crowned next Thursday (Sept. 4) by Billboard.
With "Fancy," which led the Hot 100 for seven weeks (beginning a week prior to the Songs of the Summer chart's measuring period), having ruled Songs of the Summer from start to almost-finish so far, it would appear to be a lock to emerge as the summer's top hit. Still, MAGIC!'s six-week Hot 100 No. 1 "Rude" has been making a late challenge. Last week, "Rude" rose 3-2 on Songs of the Summer. It holds in the runner-up spot this week.
Ariana Grande's "Problem," featuring Azalea, spent its first 11 weeks on Songs of the Summer at No. 2 before dipping to No. 3 the past two weeks. ("Rude" began at No. 8 on the first Songs of the Summer chart.)
Rounding out the latest Songs of the Summer top five, Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" ranks at No. 4, followed by Nico & Vinz's "Am I Wrong" at No. 5.
