Jennifer Lopez jumps 13-2 following World Cup performance, while Pitbull and Claudia Leitte also gain.
It’s all about the World Cup and Jennifer Lopez on the Social 50, as Lopez rises 13-2 to achieve her highest position ever in the list’s three-and-a-half year history.
The Social 50 incorporates the following metrics: weekly additions of fans across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram; reactions and conversations across Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook; and views to an artist’s Wikipedia page, according to music analytics provider Next Big Sound.
Her ascension is prompted by the perfect storm of events: First, on June 12, she performed at the World Cup’s opening ceremony in Sao Paulo, Brazil, singing the tournament’s official theme song “We Are One (Ole Ola)” with Pitbull (22-7) and Claudia Leitte. The track itself rises 38-8 on Streaming Songs with a 141 percent gain for the week ending June 15, according to Nielsen BDS. It also re-enters the Billboard Hot 100 at a new peak, No. 59.
In addition, throughout the week, Lopez continued to promote the release of her album, "A.K.A.," which hit retail on June 17.
Lopez saw a 192 percent rise in mentions on Twitter, according to Next Big Sound, and a 229 percent increase in re-tweets of her tweets, along with the addition of 1.2 million fans across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Additionally, her Wikipedia page saw a 271 percent increase in weekly views, likely because of the international television exposure.
Leitte, meanwhile, debuts at No. 19. The Brazilian singer is a featured vocalist on the track, and also performed with Pitbull and Lopez on the 2014 Billboard Music Awards. While not well-known in the U.S. she is a star in her home country, where she is a mentor on the Brazilian version of "The Voice."
She earned a 880 percent rise in weekly Wikipedia views as more than 174,000 people came to her page. She also adds more than 500,000 fans across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Back in the top 10, Justin Bieber remains at No. 1 yet again while Miley Cyrus holds at No. 3. Ariana Grande is steady at No. 4 while 5 Seconds Of Summer tumbles 2-5. Regional Mexican stars La Arrolladora Banda el Limon de Rene Camacho climbs 15-6, while Tyrese moves 12-8. Taylor Swift slides 6-9 and Shakira bumps 19-10 to anchor the region.
